The Crocodile Cafe
2200 2nd Ave
Seattle, WA 98121-2017
(206) 441-7416
Starting in the early nineties the crocodile café became the center of Seattle’s rock scene. Nationally accredited bands such as Alice in Chains, Green Day, Everclear, The Beastie Boys, Beck and REM to name a few played at the Crocodile. Occasionally they would have surprise shows where local bands like Mudhoney would be advertised under a name such as Pen Cap Chew. To the audiences surprise Mudhoney would take the stage instead of the fictitious Pen Cap Chew. Other surprise shows included Nirvana and Pearl Jam. In 2007 the crocodile suddenly closed its doors due to financial problems. After some major renovations the crocodile café reopened under new management in 2009.
