Safeco field is the home of the Seattle mariners. It held its first game on July 15th 1999 against the San Diego Padres. Safeco field was one of the stadiums built in replacement of the Kingdome. The other was Qwest field. Safeco is unique in that it has a retractable roof that takes 10 minutes to fully open or close. Safeco can seats over 47,000 spectators and has a bullpen where fans can watch pitchers warm up. Its also know for a wide selection of food. The stadium is not far from the king street station and is built over part of the railroad. The noise of the train passing by and sounding its horn is a memorable experience at Safeco field. The hit it here cafe is located in right field. Fans can sit at the cafe and watch the game while they eat. Ticket prices range from $7 - $70 for the 2009 season.
